TownTopia is a Minecraft mod that turns villages into real little towns. You found a village, put up buildings, give villagers jobs, and then watch them get on with it. Farmers tend the fields, lumberjacks chop trees, cooks make dinner, the bard plays at the tavern in the evening, and guards keep the zombies out. Your job is to keep them fed, housed and happy, and to help the village grow.

The basics in 30 seconds

Tokens run everything. Building tokens go in item frames on buildings. Job tokens get used on villagers.

You craft the first one. The Town Hall token is 8 logs around a crafting table. Everything after that you buy from the Mayor.

The Mayor wants emeralds your village earned. You get them by selling your extra goods to the travelling merchant.

Food and beds come first. Keep food in storage and a bed for everyone, and most things take care of themselves.

What is TownTopia?

TownTopia is a village building and colony mod for Minecraft. Villagers in TownTopia have jobs, skill levels, needs like food and sleep, a happiness score, and a daily routine. You run the town through the Mayor and tokens instead of trading with villagers.

Which Minecraft version does TownTopia run on?

TownTopia is made for Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge. It also needs GeckoLib (version 4.8 or newer) installed.

Is TownTopia the same as TekTopia?

No. TownTopia is a separate, new mod. TekTopia is an older village mod for Minecraft 1.12.2 by a different author.

How do I start a village in TownTopia?

Build a closed room with a door, craft a Town Hall token from 8 logs around a crafting table, and put it in an item frame above or next to the door. You can also walk into a freshly generated vanilla village and it turns into a TownTopia village on its own. The full walkthrough is on Getting Started.

How do I get emeralds in TownTopia?

Build a Merchant Stall and give a villager the Tradesman job. They sell your village's extra goods to the travelling merchant. The Mayor only accepts emeralds your own village earned.
